FAQs

Q: What are the specs?

A: This heated jacket liner connects to a 12V battery, provides 87 watts of heat, and draws 6.4 amps of current.

-----------

Q: Will this work alongside other brands of heated clothing?

A: Yes! All our heated clothing is compatible with Firstgear, Gerbing, Warm & Safe, Tourmaster, and Venture Heat. You may need an adapter such as our SKU 100386-1 or 100389-1.

-----------

Q: What is the difference between Gen-X3 and Gen-X4?

A: Gen-X3 uses a copper-based heating element (made in the USA), whereas Gen-X4 uses Zepto fibres (made in France). Gen-X4 heats up faster, generates more heat, and is lighter. Both are amazing, but Gen-X4 is a bit of an upgrade!

-----------

Q: How do I wash and dry this heated apparel?

A: It can only be machine washed if your washing machine has a hand wash cycle. Please note that the hand wash cycle is typically only available on newer washing machines. If your machine does not have a hand wash cycle, then you must manually wash by hand. For drying, you can only hang dry. Do not use a drying machine.

-----------

Q: My powersport vehicle has an SAE lead installed on its 12V battery, intended for connection to a trickle charger or battery maintainer. Is it possible to use this SAE lead to bring power to my heated clothing?

A: Yes! You just need to buy the SAE to Female Coax Adapter (SKU 100252-1). Using this adapter eliminates the need for the Coax Battery Cord (SKU 100227-1).

-----------

Q: My powersport vehicle has a female cigarette lighter socket, also referred to as a 12-volt accessory outlet. Is it possible to power my heated clothing from this socket instead of a direct connection to the vehicle's battery?

A: Yes! You just need to buy the Male Cigarette Lighter Plug to Female Coax Adapter. (SKU 100224-1). Using this adapter eliminates the need for the Coax Battery Cord (SKU 100227-1).

Optional Portable Battery Add-on

Consider purchasing our ZR8 Heated Clothing Portable Battery Kit if you'd like to use your heated jacket when you're not riding your powersport vehicle. This portable battery will allow you to use the jacket liner while skiing, cycling, or just taking a walk on a cold day. You won't need to use your temperature controller when you're using the ZR8 Battery because there are buttons on the battery to adjust the temperature. If you plan on connecting heated gloves or glove liners to the ends of each sleeve on this jacket, then you will need to purchase the Male Coax to Dual Female Coax Adapter (SKU 100229-1).

Warm, Reliable, and Worth Every Penny!

Absolutely love my Gears Canada Heated Jacket Liner Gen‑X4. My wife loves it so much she brings it every ride, and it genuinely extended our motorcycle touring season. It keeps her warm and toasty even on grey, windy, or rainy days. Staff is super friendly and the shipping is fast. This is my second purchase from them — loved the products so much I had to get more good stuff.

I have had and worn Gears heated clothing since 2012. started off with gen 2 heated vest. wore this in mornings and evenings when riding the Rockies as I was living in Alberta. Also on a ride across Canada to N.B. and back in September. Switched to a gen 2 jacket with heated gloves attached. a great improvement for longer rides in cold weather. When gen 3 came out upgraded to jacket gloves. Many good rides when other riders had their bikes in the garage. Now the gen 4 jacket which uses the same duel controller for gen 3 jacket and gloves. tried it out on rides april 9th and 10th on about 4 hr rides. Temperature high 6 deg. C low was 3C with fairly high wind with wind chill. I was comfortable the whole time. I now live in northern New Brunswick low temperatures and chilly rainy weather common especially early and late in the year off the bays and ocean. the Gears gen 4 jacket and gloves makes riding in weather and temperatures where others stay home not only doable but comfortable. They have you starting rides earlier in the morning and evenings as well as earlier and later in the year. One of the best investments and accessories I have made for my bike rides I have made. The price at Gears is way better then purchasing at a dealership.I have also bought other products and satisfied with those as well. You can call and talk to a representative who will be friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Gears Canada for heated clothing and other accessories. I will be buying from them again in the future. Great Jacket for Motorcycling when it's cold out.

I purchased this jacket for those early spring rides and fall rides when our temps cool down. Used it a few days after I received it and was amazing. So glad I purchased it. It will get lots of use.

Due to time of year have been unable to use it other than a quick plug in in the garage. Will update when first used.

The equipment works so much better thanthe battery powered shirt I was using previously. Has more heated parts and more temperature range and no worries about batteries lasting a short time and taking forever to charge. Only gone out for one test ride so far cause my back is killing me but I actually had to turn the heat down! 😳 My only concern is draining my lil bikes battery and getting stranded. I've been told it's fine by Gears but my dealership and forums say my TW200 doesn't produce enough electricity to run heated gear. Guess I'll need to get a booster pack, just in case.

Happy with this purchase. Week long ride in cool sometimes wet conditions was comfortable thanks to this jacket liner. Easy to adjust heat as conditions change while riding. Time will tell about durability. If it lasts for years to come, I would give it 5 stars.

I absolutely love my new Gen X-4 heated jacket liner glove liners! The micro ZEPTO wires are a huge improvement over the bulky wires my Gerbing gear uses, and the stretch side panels on the jacket make it incredibly flexible and comfortable to wear. I am thrilled with my purchase and wish I had learned about Gears Canada sooner!

Hi Shalina

I bought the Gears heated jacket liner to wear when riding my Kawasaki H2 SX SE motorcycle here on the west coast of Canada, mainly during the spring and fall. It is hard wired to the bike's battery by way of the Gears " Single Temperature Controller for Heated Clothing " harness.

The jacket has worked perfectly even on those 1C early morning rides from Horseshoe Bay to Whistler. This is 1C before factoring in for the wind chill when riding at 90 + km/h. The jacket fits perfectly and snugly under my zip-together leather jacket and pants. Those expandable panels in the arms and chest really do ensure a custom, tailored fit. No more layering up needed to stay warm and comfortable, just a light wool turtle neck, Gears heated jacket liner and leather jacket.

With the " Single Temperature Controller for Heated Clothing " I can easily regulate the amount of heat generated by the jacket liner at any point during the ride.

Now that winter is here I am soon going to order the ZR 8 portable battery kit so I can use the heated jacket liner on those cooler / colder daily walks.

Thanks very much for the great Gears products.

Best Regards
Gary Phipps

Works perfectly with the dual controller and gloves. I wish the jacket had side pockets or an internal pocket to place the battery for use off the bike but that’s a minor nit.

I'll only give it 4 stars for now, as I have only actually needed it once. Having said that though it worked flawlessly and almost too well for temperatures I was riding in. I was glad that I'd connected it through an easily accessible ''on/off'' switch.

Made an appointment and went to their show room.
Bought jacket liner, chaps, glove liner to wear inside my favorite gloves, and a full length glove. They all hook up to a dual controller so your gloves can be different temperature from jacket and legs.
If you can connect a battery tender you can connect this. I do wish the connector was a bit longer to reach the front of my bike. Right now the cable goes under my seat and comes out by my leg.
Been riding comfortably March to November.
The quality has been very good I'm very happy with the price I paid

Thank you so much for your kind words. We really appreciate you taking the time out to share your experience with us. We look forward to working with you again in the future!

I bought a jacket at the bike show and had a small issue but when I went to the store Shalina and her partner were very helpful and my issue was resolved and came away feeling that sure was a pleasant experience. They bent over backwards to help and would absolutely recommend them to anyone.
Very pleased with the product. I now own a gen x4 heated jacket that heats up fast and will be able to enjoy those cold morning rides!

Thank you so much for your kind words. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us – and we agree, Shalina is truly a gem to have on our team!
