Can-Am Spyder and Ryker Covers: Which Cover Fits Your Model and Year

By the GEARS team Updated November 2026 8 min read
Quick answer

The right Can-Am Spyder cover depends on your model and its model year. Our Can-Am Spyder RT Waterproof Cover fits the Spyder RT family (RT, RT-S, RT Limited and the other RT versions on its list) and comes in two sizes: one for the listed RT models from 2009 to 2019, and one for the listed RT models from 2020 to 2026. For a Ryker, the Can-Am Ryker Storage Cover is listed for the Ryker 600, 900, Sport and Rally, even with a windshield or other accessories installed, though its page warns that an accessory that changes the Ryker's shape may stop the cover fitting, or damage it. Both are sold for indoor and outdoor storage, not as trailering covers. Here is how to pick yours and how to put your trike away for the winter.

Can-Am, BRP, Spyder and Ryker are trademarks of their owners; we use model names only to describe fit. If your model is not named below, do not guess: send us the model and year before you order.

Can-Am Spyder RT cover: pick the size by model year

The Can-Am Spyder RT Waterproof Cover comes in two sizes, and the only thing that decides between them is the year your Spyder was made. These are the models its page lists:

Model year RT models listed Size
2009 RT, RT Audio & Convenience 2019 & Prior
2010 to 2012 RT, RT-S, RT Limited, RT Audio & Convenience 2019 & Prior
2013 and 2014 RT, RT-S, RT Limited 2019 & Prior
2015 and 2016 RT, RT-S, RT Limited, RT-S Special Series 2019 & Prior
2017 RT, RT-S, RT Limited 2019 & Prior
2018 RT, RT Limited, RT Limited Anniversary 2019 & Prior
2019 RT, RT Limited 2019 & Prior
2020 RT, RT Limited 2020 & Up
2021 to 2023, and 2025 RT, RT Limited, RT Limited Sea-to-Sky 2020 & Up
2024 and 2026 RT, RT Limited, RT Sea-to-Sky 2020 & Up

On the 2020 and up size, the rear of the cover unzips and expands to take the RT Limited's top box. On a base RT without a top box, you zip it closed to hide the extra fabric. The armrest extensions unzip the same way if your trike has passenger armrests. On the 2019 and earlier size, zippers near the rear let both antennas poke through.

Riding an F3 or another Spyder? This cover's fit list names RT models only. If your Spyder is not an RT on the list above, it is not a listed fit, so check with us before you order.

Can-Am Ryker cover: one cover for every Ryker

The Can-Am Ryker Storage Cover is made to fit all Ryker models, even with a windshield or other accessories installed, and its page names the Ryker 600, 900, Sport and Rally. There is one size, so there is no year to match. The page adds one limit worth reading: accessories that significantly change the shape of your Ryker may stop the cover from fitting properly, or damage it.

In their reviews, one owner says it fits with the factory windshield, another with a sport windshield, and one Rally owner fitted it with a windshield and a case on the rear. One found it snug over the mirrors with a windshield, another tight at the bars with wind guards added, and one owner found it too small with the windshield on. Those are single owners' experiences; the page's accessory warning is the rule to go by. If your Ryker carries large add-ons, send us a description before you order.

How to put it on, as the page describes it: start at the rear so the cover does not tear. Make sure the mirrors stick straight out, unzip the windshield opening, stretch the rear over the top half of the rear wheel, then pull the cover over the mirrors and on over the two front wheels. Tie the webbing on each side around the footpegs.

From our riders

One Spyder owner found the cover went on easier with two people, and another found the antenna openings on the older RT cover took a little fiddling. Like any fitted cover, it gets quicker once you have done it once.

Can-Am Ryker storage and Spyder storage for the winter

A cover is the last step of putting a trike away, not the first. Your owner's manual is the authority on storing your model; these are the broad steps, in the garage, the shed or the driveway:

  1. Wash and dry it. Get road salt and grime off, and let the trike dry before it goes under a cover.
  2. Let the exhaust cool. The Ryker cover's page says never to put the cover on over a hot exhaust. We would wait for the exhaust to cool before fitting any cover.
  3. Follow your owner's manual for fuel, fluids, battery and tires. It tells you what your trike needs for storage. For battery options, see our battery maintainer guide.
  4. Cover it and strap it. Use the webbing under the trike as well as the elastic hem, as both covers' pages describe.

Storing outside? Both covers are listed for outdoor use, but a trike parked outside all winter has it harder than one in a garage, so check the cover and straps now and then. The Ryker page also advises against leaving the cover in direct sunlight for long periods. For more on keeping a bike outside, see our outdoor motorcycle storage guide.

Can I trailer my trike with the cover on?

Not with these covers. The Ryker cover's page says not to tow your Ryker with the cover on. The Spyder RT cover's page lists it for indoor and outdoor storage and says nothing about towing, so we would not trailer with it either. Strap the trike down uncovered for the trip and put the cover on when you arrive.

Gear in this guide

Which cover should you buy?

  • A Spyder RT version and year in the 2019 & Prior rows of the table: the Spyder RT Waterproof Cover, size 2019 & Prior. For example, the RT from 2009 to 2019, the RT Limited from 2010 to 2019, or the RT-S from 2010 to 2017.
  • A Spyder RT version and year in the 2020 & Up rows: the Spyder RT Waterproof Cover, size 2020 & Up. That is the RT or RT Limited from 2020 to 2026, the RT Limited Sea-to-Sky for 2021 to 2023 and 2025, or the RT Sea-to-Sky for 2024 and 2026.
  • A Ryker 600, 900, Sport or Rally: the Can-Am Ryker Storage Cover, subject to the accessory note above.
  • A model, version or year not in the table, including the F3 and other Spyders that are not RTs: not on our fit lists. Check with us before you order.

Both are in our trike covers collection. For covers on two-wheeled bikes, see how to choose a motorcycle cover.

Questions riders ask us

Which size do I need for my Spyder RT?

Go by the model year and your exact version. Listed RT versions from 2009 to 2019 take the 2019 & Prior size; listed RT versions from 2020 to 2026 take the 2020 & Up size. If your version and year are not in the table above, check with us.

Will it fit my RT Limited with a rack on the top case?

The page does not say. One owner of a 2012 RT Limited with a rack on the top box reports that it fits, very snugly, and goes on easier with two people, and our team told a 2018 RT Limited owner with a rack on the top box that it fits. Check your year against the table above first.

Does the Ryker cover fit with a windshield?

Its page says it fits all Ryker models with a windshield or other accessories, and the windshield opening unzips. The same page warns that an accessory that significantly changes your Ryker's shape may stop the cover fitting properly, or damage it. With a tall windscreen or other large add-ons, send us a description before you order.

Can I leave it on outside all winter?

Both covers are listed for outdoor storage, with heat-sealed seams and vents to limit condensation. Strap them down and check them now and then. A garage or shed is still the easier winter for any trike.

How do I clean the cover?

For the Ryker cover, the page says not to machine wash or dry clean it: hose it down inside and out with cold water and a mild detergent, then let it dry spread out flat. The Spyder RT cover's page links to its own washing guide.
