1. Gear Up with Rainwear

First, you need to wear gear to protect yourself from the rain. A high-quality waterproof rain-suit is a great start. Next, consider layering up by that you can get yourself heated clothing to wear underneath the rain-suit so that it will add extra warmth.

Other things to consider when looking for gear are waterproof gloves, anti-fog goggles, and boots. While riding in the rain, you do not want to have your gloves wet as it will not allow you to grip the handles, which will lead to losing control of your vehicle. In addition, having goggles is mandatory when riding in the rain as it will provide you with better vision. Our motorcycle rain gear guide covers each piece in more detail.

It is important to balance comfort and flexibility, considering the condition you are riding in.

Finally, your motorcycle should be ready for the trip; make sure you do not use the tires your friend gave you for racing. It's just not the right occasion! The more threads on the tires, the better your vehicle will ride.

2. Scan Ahead.

When riding, we tend not to pay attention to the ground. Try to avoid puddles as much as you can for your stability. Maintenance holes and sealer pavements can also reduce traction during the rain; make sure to scan ahead of time.

Also, resist braking hard or accelerating try to roll over without making any aggressive inputs.

3. Be Aware of Intersections

Intersections are where many accidents occur. Therefore, always be mindful of upcoming traffic and slow down when passing a crossing to prevent accidents. When stopped at a red light, make sure you have enough space to fit two cars between you and the vehicle in front of you.

4. Focus on One Thing at a Time

In perfect weather, you can combine multiple actions at once, such as accelerating, shifting or trail braking while turning. But during a rainy day, it is better to focus on one thing at a time.

5. Find a Fry Line

We all know how it is when it starts pouring. Streets are full of water, so you want to make sure that you do not splash everywhere. Note that following the track of the vehicle in front of you can be a strategic measure. Find a dry line and drive on it. Wheels can act like a plough to brush off the water out of the pavement for a brief moment.

6. Take it Easy

Drive slow and steady. Give yourself some space between other vehicles as you should increase the braking distance in bad weather. Always look through your mirror to check your surroundings. Finally, relax your body and mind, trust your bike and yourself. Enjoy! It's FUN!
